‘Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had almost slipped. Psalm 73:1-2
I can’t tell you how often I come back to Psalm 73. A ‘Psalm 73 moment’ is a moment of doubt, or fear. It’s a moment you don’t invite everyone into—because not everyone would get it. It’s a moment of truth, but it’s not THE TRUTH about you. It’s a moment to move through, but not a moment to get stuck in.
‘When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered, I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you.’ Psalm 73:21-22
It’s a bitter moment that doesn’t even make sense, until you’re on the other side of it. But you can’t not go through it. We're worshipping around one of my favorite places to land in all of Scripture:
‘Whom have I in heaven but you? My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. But as for me, it is good to be near God.’ Psalm 73:25-28 (NIV)
