One thief rebuked the other, "Don't you fear God? We are getting what we deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." Luke 23:40-42 There’s nothing more powerful than meeting Jesus. Ask anyone who knows—it changes everything. When Jesus was crucified two thieves hung on either side of him. One was looking for some ‘last-ditch’ effort to get out alive. The other was looking beyond the moment all the way into eternity. Somehow, he knew Jesus was real, that Jesus could offer hope—his only hope. So, he made a request; ‘Remember me when you come into your Kingdom…’ James and John had asked for places of honor in the Kingdom. This guy just wanted in! He knew it was a long shot—he was hanging on a cross because that’s what he deserved. But he knew Jesus was different. Jesus’ answer is all grace! ‘Today, you will be with me in Paradise.’ This Sunday—Easter Sunday—I want us to worship around the question. ‘What do you want Jesus to remember about you?’
