"In the past, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son." Hebrews 1:1-2
I believe with all my heart that God keeps speaking into my life. He keeps showing up in various ways at different times. The trouble is I usually don’t realize it’s Him until the moment is past. Sometimes not even then.
When I read the Christmas stories in Scripture, I wonder if anybody actually understood in real-time what God was up to. Truthfully, I guess I’m not sure I can grasp, even now, all that God was up to. But I want to. I want to have eyes to see how God is at work, ears to hear His whisper, a heart ready to leap at His call.
“He came to his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—“ John 1:11-12
This Sunday, let’s ask to see, and hear, and believe!
Read the story of Jacob wrestling with God (Gen. 32), Joshua’s encounter with the Captain of Angel Armies (Joshua 5), and the 4th man in the Fire (Daniel 3). Who knows, maybe God will show up with us, too.
I LOVE Being Your Pastor!
