“This is to be a lasting ordinance for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month you must deny yourselves and not do any work—whether native-born or a foreigner residing among you— because on this day atonement will be made for you, to cleanse you."
-Leviticus 16:29-30
The book of Leviticus, where many a good reading plan comes to an end. Let’s be honest, the book of Leviticus can be a tough read. There are lots of laws, some of them odd. There are specific instructions about sacrifices and feasts. And what’s with all the sprinkled blood? It’s a culture and setting that is not very familiar to us.
Amidst the strangeness of Leviticus, what we find is that God is giving all these laws and specific instructions so that he can dwell with his people.
I hope you can be there Sunday at 9:30am or 11, as we explore the central chapter in this book – chapter 16. We’ll be looking at the Day of Atonement and what it means for us today.
